2 months (english)

La parte in italiano è sopra a questo post. Per motivi pratici, ho diviso questo post in due.

Ok, it's been a whole months since I've written and a lot has happened!
First of all I want excuse myself if it took me so long since I last wrote but I had some good reasons.

So, what have I been doing in Helsinki in the last 4 weeks?

WEEK 1
My dad came to visit at the beginning of October. He stayed for a couple of days and I had a chance to just tour around the city. I had a chance to eat some good food, drink lots of wine (which by the way I miss terribly!) and discover some new places, such as a café near the harbor. We also went to the cinema and saw two good movies: "Midnight in Paris" and "WinWin". I recommend both of them, especially the first one! Woody Allen never disappoints!

WEEK 2
The week after I had to catch up on some work, and basically I just had to keep calm. Why? Well, because I was planning a very big surprise!! My boyfriend, Gio, was going to graduate on Oct. 19th and I had told everyone that I couldn't make it............. but I had actually bought the flight tickets long before!

WEEK 3 - DAY 1
So on the 17th I woke up really early, took the bus to the airport, worked a bit for my internship, got on the plan, flew to Amsterdam, caught my connecting flight to Milan and landed in Italy at 4.55 pm. Then, took a bus to the central station, waited for an hour, got on the fast train and arrived in Verona at 9.30 pm. During all this, I pretended my finnish phone stopped working so I had an excuse to use my italian number. While I was on the train, just as I was trying to figure out how to surprise him, I got a message from his mom saying "He's off to the gym. It's in ___ (gave me the address). Good luck!" I was in seventh heaven!! (note: I had told his mom I was coming, I needed an abetter (new word for me!!)). So back to the train station in Verona, I took a taxi and we literally went looking for this new gym. The taxi driver was so nice, he told me it was 8 euro and then still went looking for the place, since it was so hidden. Well, I was sooo excited, I couldn't stop smiling all day. I gave 10 euro to the taxi driver, got off, hid my suitcase in the bushes and waited outside for Gio to come out. I thought it would take a few minutes, according to my plans he was almost finished training. I was so wrong! I ended up waiting for an hour and a half outside in the cold! My heart jumped every time the door opened and someone came out. When it was finally his turn, I very quietly said hi and smiled. He turned around and..... said hi and proceeded towards the car. Then turned back, realized and ran towards me!!
BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE SO FAR!!!

The rest of the week went by quickly. I had to work most of the time which was a bummer, but it was really good being home! I got to see all my friends, go to the movies, eat delicious food including loads of pizza, sleep in, have fun, ride a motorcycle and much more.

GRADUATION DAY
I will sum up this day because I would have too much to say but the end note is that is was an AWESOME day!! He wasn't too anxious or nervous, but I was for him!! He had to discuss his thesis in front of group of professors and they chatted as if they were all colleagues! The topic was "Nuns' life in the Counter reformation" (he graduated in art history and now is continuing his MS in History).
He was then proclaimed "doctor" with the top grades!! 110 out of 110!! I'm so proud of him!

WEEK 4
I came back to Finland on the 25th and it was hard for the first days to get used to the silence again. But all the work I had to do, catching up with friends here, going out... it all helped.
I must say I also have amazing friends in Italy who would cheer me up by just sending me random sms just to say hi!

Now I'm working on a few projects for my internship. They all have something to do with mobile phones, haptic feedback, touch screens and multitouch surfaces so I guess this is also what my master's thesis will be on! Really cool and nerdy stuff!!

Again, I'm sorry for not updating in such a long time, I'll post more often from now on.

Enjoy your weekend where ever you all are!!
